Made in Arts London
Summer Collection
Live!
• • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Glad to finally have my profile added to the Made in Arts London (MiAL) summer collection and be featured among other great talents from 2014 Catlin Prize Visitor Vote Winner Lara Morell to course mates Jazz Chen and Libby Heaney

The summer collection of artists consists of painters, illustrators, interactive media installation artists and many more. All thriving with talent and honing their skills within the UAL family.

I have selected some pieces for sale within this summer collection including "Lofty Messages" and "OZM" which are translatable pieces from video projection to illuminating light boxes to museum quality archival prints.

"The inspiration behind these pieces is the pursuit of immateriality. The narrative is pensive and the time taken with the artwork allows time for self-reflection. The use of projection and its delicate representation of cells in darkness manipulate material through texture and perspective."

Visit the collection here.

I feel as though, the older you get, the more people you have to please - but why?

I think i got a little lost in my process, and started staring at blank screens of code and tutorials for long periods of time. Don’t get me wrong, this happens many times, of course, but not when my time is more limited than this.

So i took to the streets and decided to make some art, proper, with hands and paint and paper and sitting upon a cold concrete floor for ages, deciding paper placements.

I ventured back into the business of crafts and experimented with some down right illustration and paper craft. This was the result of meeting a friend i’ve made at the Manor House warehouse party earlier in 2014. Combining our initial efforts to just create something, we picked up on digital media artist, Sonya Zh as well. Together we took to South Tottenham’s studios and made what looked like undersea creatures, repurposed for the walls and petty English weather.

I came up with a slug-like sculpture of paper and folds, later collaboratively painted over and dusted with neon paint, creating a simple rave-like decor when lit with black light.

These are the initial drawings we came up with, subsequently (and rebelliously) showing them on the brick wall within the warehouse vicinity.

More photographs to come.

#inhabit2014

What thoughts thrive in the mind struck with stale kisses, embraces and words? The bitter, sour exchanges of hearts un-sparked, made dull with clashes, scratches and burns. Seek solace in the familiar that bind free souls and the birth an offspring of routine. Sometimes, love expires to a habit that must be unlearned and reversed, like a nervous tic, grown under skin, quenched and lied to with the comforts of time and lust. An unspoken covenant, stitched together with thread spun from fear of detachment and solitude, inhabiting the long-conditioned, spent hearts and minds.

Design - Inhabit

Favourite hiding / thinking / mystery place = forest. Where the leaves float about as punctuational rhythms and the tall trees shelter you from harmful rays and bullying winds like older brothers.

In this case, i am once again needed to think lo-fi as the budget for this is a nice big, $0.To be xerox’d “zine” style, i decided to go for the low. Nothing cheap should ever try to be something its not, thus, only way around lo-fi is to think, lo-fi.To counter the stability of quality from a xerox machine, especially with my experience of the ones available today, i decided to go with a simple trick to keep the image quality safe, as well as add texture to the sensory pool. I used a colour halftone - no big idea, really, just common sense.Since printing colour is a major “no, no” in my book, because it will never, never turn out as pretty as the pantone colour chart you picked it out from - so in short, DO NOT USE COLOUR FOR PRINTING LO-FI. Use paints! Paint markers! Stickers! Stamps! Gold foil! Anything but print! This not only adds to your personal “touch”, it also creates a very custom-made feel that will please anyone in the band scene./Drawing inspiration from their EP title, "inhabit", i went with my favourite place to hide and just be one with my dreams - that is the forest. You know how in winter or spring, you get those magical days where the rays beam through the leaves and make the frail spots of dew look like jewels as they sparkle? That moment is the meaning for my background used in the sleeve. Pictured here is the the outer sleeve (the cover and back), these are the sloshes of drip, dew and paint that come with every memory. Skip through it! And find the text within. Will be done with this soon and more pictures up then!+
